色のイディオム（１） 

今日から2回色を含むイディオムを挙げていきます。1回目は「ピンク、青、白」です。

■in the pink　とても元気で
the pinkは「最高の状態」。健康状態での肌の色が語源。
healthy, fine, fit, in good health[shape]（健康な）より意味が強い。

■feel blue　憂鬱である
形容詞のblueは「憂鬱な」。
blue ＝　depressed, melancholy, in low spirits

＝　■be in[have] the blues　憂鬱である
名詞のblueは複数形で「憂鬱」。

■a white lie　罪のないうそ
「白い」→「悪意のない、罪のない」。

色のイディオム（２）

今日は「黒、赤、白、青」を含むイディオムです。

■be in the black　黒字である
＝　be in surplus
get into the balck　黒字になる

⇔　■be in the red　赤字である
＝　be in deficit
get into the red　赤字になる
get out of the red　赤字を脱する

このように「黒字・赤字」のblack, redにはtheが必要。

■white-collar　頭脳労働の
collarは「えり」。白いシャツ（ワイシャツ）を着ている人が多いから。
